We are proud to announce that we have received a 2026 Princess Royal Training Award.  The Awards are judged by the Princess Royal, "Barlows UK Ltd enhanced its New Driver Training programme to improve the safety and confidence of apprentices and new recruits driving company vans. Combining one-to-one driving lessons with AI-enabled in-cab coaching, the initiative has supported 200 employees. Since 2023, vehicle check completion rates have risen from 65% to 90%, while at-fault incidents, insurance claims and annual insurance premiums have all reduced substantially." Foundation Golf Day 2026

The sun was shining for our third charity golf day brought together 100 players to raise over £10,000 A friendly competition. We held our charity golf day in Stockport and once again it proved to be a fantastic event and raised vital funds. This year saw over 100 colleagues, clients, and suppliers among the golfers out on the course, the day was filled with friendly competition, great company, and a shared commitment to supporting a worthwhile causes.   [siteorigin_widget class="SiteOrigin_Widget_Image_Widget"][/siteorigin_widget][siteorigin_widget class="SiteOrigin_Widget_Image_Widget"][/siteorigin_widget]Helping the smaller and un-supported groups. This year’s the foundation has chosen to raise the money for local charities in the Oldham area. Staff in our Manchester office have been asked to choose several charities so the money this year can have a further reaching impact to the local areas where our staff live. The money will be used to help local charities where vital funds are low and to help the smaller and un-supported groups in the area. Great standard of golf. The day’s real measure was not only the standard of golf, but what it delivered for the charity. Entry fees, hole sponsorship, a well-supported raffle and on-course collections combined to produce a substantial sum that will go directly to local charities. Because so many players and businesses turned out, the event converted goodwill into funding that can be put into good need to under supported groups in the Oldham area. That impact lasts beyond the prize giving. A well run day brings in first time sponsors as well as regular supporters, and the visibility of the cause on the course often leads to follow on gifts and introductions after the event. The sportsmanship that defined the round also helped the fundraising: people give more readily when the occasion feels generous and well organised. In short, the golf day did what a charity event should do — raise money that can be put to work, and leave participants ready to support the same cause again. Another successful HVAC upgrade

10.6kW indoor cassette and outdoor condenser system for one of our hospitality clients. Our HVAC team was called to site following reports that the existing air conditioning system was no longer providing adequate cooling and was instead circulating warm air throughout the premises. Following a comprehensive inspection, our engineers quickly identified a number of critical system faults and maintenance deficiencies. These issues were traced back to inadequate servicing and poor maintenance practices carried out by previous contractors, resulting in reduced system performance, increased energy consumption, and a heightened risk of complete system failure. Following our detailed assessment, we: Provided a comprehensive condition report with recommendations. Prepared a detailed quotation outlining the required remedial works. This included: A comprehensive Risk Assessment and Method Statement (RAMS). A detailed lifting plan for the safe removal and replacement of external condenser units. Assessment of access and egress routes. Safe systems of work for engineers and lifting personnel. Management of operational risks to staff, customers and site visitors. Ongoing supervision to ensure compliance with health and safety requirements throughout the project. Barlows UK at the Farndon Soapbox Derby 2025

Two teams, one race, and plenty of friendly rivalry. At this year’s Farndon Soapbox Derby, Barlows UK teams from Manchester and Hampton battled it out – all while raising funds for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd. On Your Marks On Sunday 13th September, the excitement was high as our Manchester and Hampton teams rolled up to the starting line. With soapboxes built, helmets strapped on, and supporters ready to cheer, the stage was set for another memorable Barlows UK showdown. The competition carried more than just community bragging rights. Hampton had taken victory in our most recent football match back in 2023, so Manchester arrived at the Derby with something to prove. Both teams were determined not only to perform well on the track but also to embody the teamwork and spirit that drives everything we do at Barlows UK. Down the Track The course was slick and the wind unforgiving, but that only added to the excitement of race day. Crowds gathered along the route, umbrellas in hand, cheering on the many creative soapbox designs as they hurtled down the hill. Both of our teams put on a brilliant show – their soapboxes not just a test of speed, but also of imagination and engineering skill. With every run, they demonstrated resilience and camaraderie. In the end, it was Manchester who crossed the finish line fastest, taking the chequered flag and earning the proud title of Inter-Barlows Soapbox Champions 2025. Our Hampton office are already making plans to build their own cart ready for 2026! Beyond the Finish Line While the race delivered plenty of thrills, the day was about more than competition. The Farndon Soapbox Derby raises funds each year for local good causes, and in 2025 the event supported the Hospice of the Good Shepherd. This incredible organisation provides compassionate care and essential services for families during the most difficult of times. By taking part, our Manchester and Hampton teams contributed to a fantastic fundraising effort while strengthening bonds within our business and community. The Derby was a reminder that at Barlows UK, we’re not just colleagues – we’re teammates who work hard, support one another, and give back to the communities we serve. A huge congratulations to both teams for their creativity, determination, and community spirit. And of course, a special well done to Manchester for bringing the trophy home. Barlows Foundation Golf Day 2025

With the sun shining, our second charity golf day brought together 88 players to raise over £8,000 for Alder Hey Children’s Charity Our Second Charity Golf Day Raises Funds for Alder Hey We successfully held our second charity golf day, and once again it proved to be a fantastic event. With colleagues, clients, and suppliers among the 88 golfers out on the course, the day was filled with friendly competition, great company, and a shared commitment to supporting a worthwhile cause. Just like last year, a great day was had by all — and a fantastic amount of money was raised in the process. This year’s chosen charity was Alder Hey Children’s Charity, an organisation that plays a vital role in supporting the 450,000 children and young people treated at Alder Hey each year. The charity helps fund lifesaving equipment, world-class facilities, and those extra touches that make a hospital stay a little easier for young patients and their families. Their work ensures Alder Hey continues to be not just a leading centre for paediatric care, but also a truly patient-focused and compassionate environment. Over £8,000 Will Go a Long Way The money raised will go directly towards funding lifesaving medical equipment and state-of-the-art facilities at Alder Hey, helping to make a real and lasting difference to children and young people in need of care. In addition, the funds support the “Alder Hey magic” — those small but meaningful extras that help make a hospital stay as positive and comforting as possible for both patients and their families. The Barlows Foundation has donated £8,500 throughout 2024 Family Funday 2024 For the second year in a row we hosted our Family Fun Day in Memory of Jacob 'Jay' Holden to raise an incredible £3,100 for three fantastic causes. Despite the Great British weather trying to blow us all away, the day was filled with activities, laughter, and shared purpose as we rallied support for causes that are close to our hearts. The funds were distributed as follows: £500 to support Vega, a determined young girl from the village of Marbury living with cerebral palsy. Vega is on a journey to raise funds for stem cell treatment abroad, and we are proud to contribute to her goal of achieving. £1,000 for Dynamic Wrexham, a center in North Wales providing invaluable services to children and young people with disabilities, offering support, resources, and activities that helps families beyond what they could ever ask for. £1,600 to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, a charity that has become extremely close to Barlows and the annual funday, as it was a charity our late colleague and dear friend, Jay Holden wanted to support as much as he could. Charity Golf Day 2024 Earlier this year, the Barlows Foundation teed off its first ever Charity Golf Day. We are thrilled to share that the event was a great success, raising an impressive £5,300 for two incredible causes. The funds were divided between: £2,000 for the Swan End of Life Care Appeal, which supports patients and families during the most challenging times of their lives. £3,300 for the Cancer Research Fund of Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity, helping to advance the fight against cancer and improve care for patients A Day to Remember The golf day brought together participants, supporters, and volunteers for a wonderful cause. Their collective efforts and generosity helped us surpass our fundraising goals, showing the power of community and teamwork. At the cheque presentation, we were honored to meet members of the palliative care team, whose dedication and compassion make an incredible difference in the lives of patients and families. Farndon Soapbox Derby 2024

Sunday 15th September 2024, Barlows proudly entered a team to represent the Barlows Foundation in the Farndon Soapbox Derby, a fantastic gravity soapbox racing event held in the heart of the community. The Setting Farndon the backdrop to where this event was held, is a neighbouring Cheshire village to Malpas where Barlows was founded. This event was a wonderful opportunity to give back to the local community that provided the foundation for our growth into what we are today. It was truly fantastic! It allowed us to deepen our connection within the community and demonstrate our continued commitment to the people who have supported us from the beginning. Team Barlows The Farndon Soapbox Derby isn’t just about speed—it’s also a celebration of creative design. Though we entered at the last minute and had limited time for planning, Rich Hamer and Luke Ellis came up with a fun idea. With Halloween approaching and our driver dressed as a pink rabbit, they suggested we dress as scary rabbits and chase the kart down the track. Initially, we were a bit sceptical, but it turned out to be a fantastic idea! With a last-minute driver change from Dave Broderick to Mark Holden, it was fortunate that Rich Morris was there to offer some valuable advice. Despite the pouring rain, our first run clocked in at a respectable time. The tough conditions made the race especially challenging, but luckily Charlton Motors – Team 55 – were on hand to make some key modifications to the kart, ensuring we were in the best position to tackle both the elements and the demanding course. We clocked a fastest time of 2.28 a great time considering the conditions and it being many of the teams first taste of a soapbox race!   Future Race Days A big shout-out to everyone who braved the weather to support the event! Despite the challenging conditions, the turnout and energy were incredible. We’re already brainstorming ideas for next year, aiming to be faster and even more creative—we can’t wait to come back stronger! A huge thank you as well to the event organizers for putting on such a fantastic event for the local community, all in support of the amazing cause, Hospice of the Good Shepherd. Their hard work truly made it a great spectacle for all!
