Our Second Charity Golf Day Raises Funds for Alder Hey
We held our charity golf day in Stockport and once again it proved to be a fantastic event and raised vital funds. This year saw over 100 colleagues, clients, and suppliers among the golfers out on the course, the day was filled with friendly competition, great company, and a shared commitment to supporting a worthwhile causes.
This year’s the foundation has chosen to raise the money for local charities in the Oldham area. Staff in our Manchester office have been asked to choose several charities so the money this year can have a further reaching impact to the local areas where our staff live.
The money will be used to help local charities where vital funds are low and to help the smaller and un-supported groups in the area.
Exactly what a charity day should achieve
The charity golf day was a thoroughly well-received occasion, bringing together players, sponsors and supporters for a day that combined competitive golf with a generous spirit. From the first tee to the final putt, the course was marked by good humour, fair play and a genuine willingness to look after one another — whether that meant waiting patiently on the fairway, offering a quiet word of encouragement, or simply sharing the day with people who had come for the same cause.
What stood out most was the sportsmanship. Close matches were contested hard but settled with a handshake, and the emphasis stayed on the event rather than the scorecard. Guests left speaking as much about the atmosphere as the golf itself, which is exactly what a charity day should achieve: a memorable round, a strong sense of community, and support for a worthwhile cause.
The sportsmanship that defined the round
The day’s real measure was not only the standard of golf, but what it delivered for the charity. Entry fees, hole sponsorship, a well-supported raffle and on-course collections combined to produce a substantial sum that will go directly to local charities. Because so many players and businesses turned out, the event converted goodwill into funding that can be put into good need to under supported groups in the Oldham area.
That impact lasts beyond the prize giving. A well run day brings in first time sponsors as well as regular supporters, and the visibility of the cause on the course often leads to follow on gifts and introductions after the event.
