Today we say goodbye to our friend and colleague Stewart Ellis who is retiring after 44 years! Stewart started working with ‘Malpas Electrical’ in 1972 working from the Market House in Malpas primarily wiring council houses which he travelled to in his first van, a maroon morris minor! He built his wealth of knowledge and experience carrying out repairs, installation and maintenance locally and even gained the respect of the local farmers! He then moved on to becoming Area Manager, overseeing works for Cheshire Council. Eventually he became Contracts Manager overseeing a team of electricians working on Housing Association contracts and managing Domestic repairs.
Because of his approachable nature many of our long standing members of staff can recall an occasion where they’ve had to call on Stu for help and advice. This meant that in recent years he was the natural choice to be involved with the Training Centre so that young electricians coming through the apprenticeship scheme can benefit from his expertise.
Everyone will miss Stu, his support…but most of all his friendly and positive attitude. We hope you enjoy your retirement and we wish you all the best for the future.
‘I have known Stewart since I started working for Barlow’s 28 Years ago. During those years I have had the pleasure of working alongside him on numerous school projects and can only describe him as a ‘True Gentleman of our Industry’.
Stewart taught me many things during our time together and became a family friend to myself and my wife, as well as a fantastic work colleague. The times we spent singing on jobs and enjoying each other’s company alongside the bad jokes will always stay with me.
Stewart had the ability to deal with problems in his quiet way, firm but fair and always showed full respect to his work colleague’s and clients.
He has always had the ability to communicate well with his peers and youngsters alike and has always been professional within his role, a true loyal employee, very rare in this day and age.
