Our team in Manchester recently completed an LED upgrade project for Bruntwood Property Management Services Ltd. Our dedicated team worked during the night-time hours, over the course of eight nights from 10 pm to 6 am, to install energy-efficient LED lighting. The project aimed to improve lighting quality, reduce energy consumption, and minimise disruption to daily operations.

Why upgrade to LED?

Stamford Quarter Car Park in Altrincham was plagued with numerous failed twin fluorescent vapourproof lights that had been neglected, mainly due to the complexities associated with access and working hours. Recognising the challenge, our expertise and flexibility stood out, as we were entrusted with the task of revamping the lighting system without disrupting the car park's normal operational hours.

Upgrading to an LED lighting system offers many different benefits these include; enhanced energy efficiency, longer lifespan, reduced maintenance costs, improved lighting quality, and environmental friendliness.

Rich Morris - Contract Manager

“Many of the original twin fluorescent vapourproof lights had failed, creating a pressing need for replacement. However, due to challenges surrounding access and working hours the failed lights were not replaced, causing inconvenience to both the car park users and retailers. Our objective was to elevate the lighting levels, ensuring optimum visibility for the approaching winter season while minimising disruption. Following meetings with the client, we reached an agreement to temporarily close the multi-storey car park between 10 pm and 6 am. Teamed with the assistance of a specialist access platform company, we successfully utilised a specialised MEWP, enabling us to overcome the access constraints posed by the ramp's gradient and providing us with a stable working platform.

We are currently working on a number of LED upgrade programs, from schools in Greater Manchester to Kwik Fit Garages and Timpsons stores across the country.”

Our Project Overview:

  • Disconnected and safely disposed of 80 existing 2 x 49-watt T5 Vapourproof light fittings on the multi-storey car park ramp.
  • Supplied and installed Morgan Hope Trident 60-watt LED Vapourproof light fittings as replacements.
  • Utilized light fittings with a manufacturer's warranty of 5 years, ensuring long-term reliability.
  • Provided a comprehensive quotation that covered the safe removal and disposal of existing light fittings and battery packs in compliance with WEEE regulations.
  • Implemented a systematic identification system, assigning unique numbers and installation dates to all light fittings.

To manage waste effectively, skips were utilised on-site for the removal of debris, while hazardous waste such as batteries and fluorescent tubes were safely transported to our office for recycling. These measures ensured a seamless and environmentally conscious execution of the project.
